Today we have celebrated national cherry month by making some delicious Cherry Tarts with short crust pastry and a glazed lid.

A cherry is the fruit of many plants of the genus Prunus, and is a fleshy drupe. Commercial cherries are obtained from cultivars of several species, such as the sweet Prunus avium and the sour Prunus cerasus. Cherries contain a number of beneficial nutrients, such as vitamin C and antioxidants. Some evidence suggests that they may also help lower inflammation, protect heart health, and improve sleep as part of a healthy diet.
